The renowned international Terravino Mediterranean International Wine & Spirits Challenge in Telavive has awarded Ribafreixo Wines top-of-the–range wine the highest possible score, distinguishing it as the Best Portuguese Wine in the competition. In addition to this important distinction, the wine also received a Double Gold Medal awarded as per the competition rules to wines rated at more than 92 out of a hundred points.
The ‘Best of Country’ award – in this case ‘Best of Portugal’ – is the most competition category as it distinguishes the best wine from its country, and one of the main requirements is that the number of competing wines from the country must be greater than 25.
Gáudio Reserva 2013, a blend of Alicante Bouschet (80%) and Touriga Nacional (20%), has aged 13 months in French oak barrels and a further 16 in the bottle, and is one of Ribafreixo highest-rated wines, with a total of 12 distinctions worldwide, including 92 points by famous American magazine Wine Enthusiast
All in all, these facts confirm what was already apparent when the wine was launched a year ago: its harvest is of a clearly superior quality and pleases even the most demanding consumer.
