Yet another Gold Medal for the already well recognised Gáudio Clássico 2014, which continues to surprise everyone. The Gold Medal was awarded in Australia at the 2018 Sydney International Wine Competition.
With a total of 19 Portuguese wines entering the most renowned event of its kind in Australia, our Gáudio Clássico was among the 5 Portuguese wines to receive a medal.
Gáudio Clássico 2014 is a blend combining Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez and Tinta Miúda varietals into a highly elegant and aromatic blend with exuberant notes of berries, flowers, mint, toast and green coffee beans. Its solid and robust tannins assures one with a pleasurable tasting experience, with a long finish, bringing out the wine’s perfectly balanced structure which was achieved by staging during 7 months in French oak – Seguin Moreau barrels, followed by 12 months bottle staging.
This blend is typical of the Alentejo region and was recognised just a few months ago as Best Portuguese Wine of The Year at the China Wine & Spirits Awards 2017, together with a Double Gold Medal awarded at the same event. Other achievements include a Silver Medal at the Wines of Portugal Competition 2017, as well as 89 points awarded by Wine Enthusiast, 16.5 by Master of Wine Julia Harding at jancisrobinson.com and 16.5 by Revista de Vinhos– Portuguese wine magazine.
