Awarded at one of the most prestigious and eminent wine contests worldwide – the China Wine & Spirits Awards, the title means that this Ribafreixo Wine attained the highest qualification of all scoring Portuguese wines, amongst the hundreds of labels enrolled.
Now taking home this major distinction, together with a Double Gold Medal at this prime Asian event, after being awarded a Silver Medal at the 2017 Wines of Portugal Competition, as well as 89 points by the renowned magazine Wine Enthusiast and 16.5 points by Master of Wine Julia Harding for jancisrobinson.com, the time has come to launch and share with you this fine wine from the Alentejo.
Gáudio Clássico 2014 is a blend made from Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez and Tinta Miúda. This is a remarkably aromatic wine with exquisite notes of dark fruits, flowers, mint, toast and green coffee. Tasting it confirms the wine’s balanced body, enhanced by firm and robust tannins, bringing out its full-bodied balanced structure, gained by 7 months’ ageing in French oak, specifically in Seguin Moreau barrels, and a further 12 months bottle staging.
A harvest year that perhaps personifies the consummation of quality and authenticity of all the years that Gáudio Clássico stands for, with medals and prestigious awards, top scores and positive reviews worldwide, it is a true fine wine from the Alentejo made for sharing and celebrating great moments.
